Satwant Singh is a retired veterinary surgeon who is deeply committed to physical fitness and lifestyle medicine. Previously an international hockey player, he transitioned to cycling after sustaining knee injury while playing squash.
In an effort to promote his enthusiasm for cycling and encourage individuals of all ages and backgrounds to participate, he established the Bolton Road Community Cycling Club. Over the years, this club has gained significant recognition and now boasts a membership of over 100 individuals from different communities. The club organises two to three bike rides per week. The riders cater for varying ability of the riders. The rides are mostly on local national cycling network routes He also works as a voluntary cycle mechanic, offering his expertise to the local community by repairing their bikes and training others in the craft.
To demonstrate that cycling is accessible to everyone, he has participated in various endurance cycling challenges worldwide, including a participating in a bike ride from India to Nepal earlier this year att he age of 76.
