James Hey is Head Coach of the Afghanistan National Cycle Team. As an accomplished British Cycling coach, he has made it his mission to support aspiring young athletes and empower cyclists from underprivileged and emerging nations to enter the world of cycling in a professional capacity.
Based in London, Hey is also the founder of The Cycle Coach, which introduces young people to develop a love for the sport of cycling and reach their full potential.
Under his leadership as the Head Coach of the Afghanistan National Cycle Team, he has made great strides in developing a competitive cycling program in a country where the sport is still relatively new. Since the return of the Taliban, cycling is now forbidden for women.
Recently, Hey and his teams competed in the Asian Road Championships in Thailand, demonstrating their dedication and hard work. They will also be competing in the UCI World Championships in Glasgow, the Asia Games in Hangzou, China and have their sights set on qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Despite his many successes as a coach, Hey remains humble and dedicated to helping others achieve their goals in the world of cycling.
