My name is Alan Butt, I am 50 and I work a SEN school in Birmingham teaching cooking and life skills to 16-19 year students with learning difficulties.
With support from the Birmingham Cycling Revolution in 2017 I secured a £10000 grant to buy adaptive and regular bikes for our students aged 2-19. The joy the children and young people get from riding them is amazing.
We also clean staff bikes and maintain the bikes we have.
I am on the British Cycling Regional Board for West Midlands as Disability and Inclusion lead and am currently supporting the local British Cycling team with the roll out of the Limitless new inclusive club programme providing cycling opportunities for disabled people, regardless of age, impairment and ability.
I volunteered at the 2014 Tour de Trance Grand depart and love watching Road racing, Cyclocross and Crit Racing.
I ride to work and for fun and fitness with my friends and nephew.
I am married to Louise and have one daughter,
Isabelle who also ride
