About the Event

Which Hall are you in?

The show is in Hall 2

What are the Show opening times?

The show will be open 9am – 5pm on Saturday 22nd March and 9am - 4pm on Sunday 23rd March 2025

Will there be food stalls?

Yes, there will be a number of NEC-managed food stalls, and some of our exhibitors will sell packaged food items.

Will I need ID?

We don’t require ID to gain entry to the Show.

Is there a cloakroom?

The NEC has a cloakroom before you enter the Show. Visitors with a VIP Ticket will have access to a VIP Cloakroom in the VIP Lounge.

Do I need to book to see a speaker?

No, our theatres are built into the exhibition hall and therefore free and accessible for all show visitors. The theatres do have limited seating, which will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

How are you working to reduce the carbon footprint at the show?

From working with the venue, looking at ourselves and collaborating with exhibitors. But here's the thing... Visitors' travel is the biggest carbon emitter of each show. So we need your help. Taking the train instead of driving will reduce the emissions of your journey by around 80%. The NEC is a 5 minute walk from Birmingham International train station or 90 seconds by the free air-rail walk. If you need to drive, car share with friends and reduce your impact by 50%. There's a great network of cycle and footpaths in the area and bike racks are near the entrance. There are also electric car charging point and more to come in the future...

To use fitness as a driver for positive change to enable people to fulfil their potential whilst protecting our communities.

We understand that cycling, running and fitness in general has become extremely popular and we know how important fitness is to improve a person’s mental health. Unfortunately, with this increased popularity, comes an increase in unnecessary waste but we can all play our part in helping reduce unnecessary waste, protecting our local environment and preserving what we can for future generations.

You can help us achieve our mission by:

  1. Donating your Preloved Sports clothing, footwear and accessories to us. We love giving your Preloved Sports items a new home, either by reselling them on our online shop so others can benefit from them, or redistributing the items to charities and organisations who help those in need.
  2. Looking for a bargain? Our range of Preloved items is ever changing, some of which have never been worn. You can get a great deal and our profits are used to support those in need.
  3. By donating and buying with Preloved Sports, you are helping reduce the amount of waste entering landfill, protecting your local environment.

IMMERSIVE CYCLING

Bikeability

Immersive cycle training using virtual reality technology: a partnership between the Bikeability Trust and Brunel University, London

The Bikeability Trust is working in partnership with Dr Dan Bishop of Brunel University London, to generate evidence that immersive cycle training using virtual reality technology can complement and augment existing Bikeability training for children. It makes them more observant, more aware, and more confident cyclists. The immersive training also enhances children’s attitudes towards cycling on roads.

During the training, the children experience real-world scenarios viewed from a cyclist’s perspective, as they cycle on a static bicycle. They hear pre-recorded instructions that prompt them to look around and become more aware of their surroundings. Dr Bishop and his colleagues have also ‘gamified’ the experience, such that the children collect points, manifested in a series of reward sounds, if they look in the right places at the right times. Unsurprisingly, this gamified approach has proven popular with adolescents, a notoriously difficult group to engage with vis-à-vis cycling as a mode of active travel.

At The National Cycling Show 2023, Dr Dan is bringing immersive cycle training to the activity floor, giving guests the chance to try out the virtual reality training themselves.

SHOWCASE ALLEY

Our Showcase Alley is the perfect place to explore the latest innovations in cycling technology to retro colourways. You can check out the newest carbon fibre frames, high-performance wheels, and cutting-edge suspension systems. A mini bike gallery with supporting information to really get your wheels spinning. The brands with bikes display in the Showcase Alley are at the event exhibiting so make sure that you check them out on their stands too if you want to find out more info.

Kadeena Cox

Kadeena Cox

Kadeena is four-time Paralympic Champion, and World Champion.

Kadeena became the first person in 32 years to win 2 gold medals in 2 different sports at a Paralympic Games; winning the T38 athletics 400m and C4 cycling 500m time trial at Rio 2016, setting new world records in both. Her time in cycling was faster than any Team GB able-bodied rider has ridden at an Olympic or Paralympic Games; not bad for somebody that ‘only got on a bicycle as a form of rehab’ 18 months earlier. Her domination as the leading Para-athlete in the world continued again at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, where Kadeena came away with Paralympic gold medals and World Records at both events.

With an incredible story of strength and resilience, Kadeena is a figurehead of the Paralympic movement. An able-bodied athlete just two years prior to Rio 2016, Kadeena set her sights on securing a place on the Team GB Winter Olympic team but heartbreakingly suffered a stroke and was subsequently diagnosed with MS. Not letting anything stop her from achieving her dreams, Kadeena is now making enormous strides in the world of para-sport and has countless World Championship and Paralympic medals across two sports.

Much more than an athlete, Kadeena is a figurehead for breaking barriers and is the only black British athlete to ever win a gold medal in the Olympics/Paralympics cycling. Wanting to use her platform to provide positive change and help to diverse ethnic communities, Kadeena founded the KC Academy; providing ethnically diverse athletes more opportunities in cycling.

Away from the track, Kadeena has a huge passion for cooking, baking and all things food-related and secured the prestigious title of being crowned Celebrity Masterchef Champion in 2021. A role model for millions, Kadeena is a true inspiration for all proving that if you set your mind to a goal, anything is possible.

Markus Stitz

Markus Stitz

Growing up in East Germany, Markus soon discovered the freedom a bike could give him, even as a child living right behind the Iron Curtain. He made Scotland his home in 2009 and after mapping his first bikepacking route, the Capital Trail, he went on a lap of the world on a single speed bike, cycling 34,000km across 26 countries in less than a year, fully self-supported.

In 2019/20 he successfully completed the Highland Trail 550, the Silk Road Mountain Race and the Atlas Mountain Race – three of the hardest bikepacking races in the world – all in the course of a year.

Since then he has portrayed gravel riding and bikepacking in Britain in various short films, magazine articles and his book ‘Great British Gravel Rides’. His latest book is ‘Bikepacking Scotland’, is a compilation of 20 inspiring bikepacking routes across Scotland.

In 2023/24 Markus has designed the Route YC Adventure Route and organises a series of bikepacking events – the Dirt Dashes.

Dame Laura Kenny

Dame Laura Kenny

Dame Laura Kenny is Britain’s greatest ever female Olympian and the first British woman to win gold at three consecutive Olympic Games. Alongside her 6 Olympic medals (5 gold, 1 silver), during her stellar career, Dame Laura also achieved 7 World titles, 14 European titles and 2 Commonwealth titles, and is one of the all-time velodrome greats.

Laura’s journey to Olympic stardom began in her teenage years, where she quickly rose through the ranks, representing Great Britain at major international events, including the Olympics, where she made her debut at the 2012 London Games, winning two gold medals in the team pursuit and omnium events. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, she again claimed two gold medals in the same events.

After giving birth to her first son Albie in 2018, Laura returned to the track once more for Tokyo 2020, and despite being hampered by crashes, broken bones and the Covid-19 pandemic, Laura sensationally defied the odds to capture yet more Olympic gold, winning the Madison, cementing her position as the most decorated female British Olympian of all time.

Laura was named in 2022 New Years Honours list, receiving her Damehood in May 2022 for services to cycling.

Anna Glowinski

Anna Glowinski

I have been cycling for as long as I can remember, it was always a fun family activity for me growing-up. From velodrome to cyclo-cross, MTB to road racing, I spent my childhood developing a passion for two-wheels. As an adult, I´ve been particularly attracted to the adrenaline side of bikes, pushing my limits on jumps, mountainsides and learning tricks, which led to my first TV role on ITV´s The Cycle Show and the lab rat who was sent to try out all the weird and wonderful (and often scary) things that cycling has to offer. I spent 5 years as a cycling TV and video presenter, exploring some of europe’s finest cycling locations and talking to some of the most amazing minds and bodies within this sport.
I believe that cycling is for everyone, it is an activity that is suitable for every personality and body type, you just need to find what is right for you. Long distance over-night adventures or a trip to the park with the kids, death defying feats or tandem trips for the visually impaired, cycling is and can be accessible to all. You just need to hear the right story or follow the right person to be inspired into spending more time in the saddle and having fun.
